Acupuncture Treatment For Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

The incidence of erectile dysfunction increases with age: about 5% of 40-year-old men and between 15% and 25% of 65-year-old men experience ED. However, ED is not an inevitable part of ageing.

Erectile dysfunction is called Yang Wei in Chinese medicine. Wei means deficiency. Yang Wei means Yang deficiency. According to TCM, Yang and Yin should keep balance in our body, if they are not in balance, our body will get sick. If our body is in Yang deficiency that means our body is not in balance, it’s in unbalance. So our acupuncture treatment principle is to improve Yang deficiency to recover our body from unbalance back to balance. Yang Wei is related with the Kidney, Governing Vessel, Directing Vessel, and Penetrating Vessel meridians, so we treat the erectile dysfunction mostly by using the above Qi’s meridians. Herbal medicinal recommendations may be also made.

The successful rate of acupuncture treatment for erectile dysfunction is over 90%

Erectile dysfunction, sometimes called “impotence” or "impotency", is the repeated inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse.

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, can be a total inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. Estimates range from 15 million to 30 million men in the USA. According to the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS), for every 1000 men in the United States, 7.7 physician office visits were made for ED in 1985. By 1999, that rate had nearly tripled to 22.3.
